Does anyone offer mobile battery service for Mercedes in the Marina area?

Post by keithmarsden »

So I'm in a bit of a tricky spot. My 2015 CLS is parked in a basement garage in Dubai Marina and it won't start this morning – just a single click then nothing. The problem is the parking is really tight and I don't think a tow truck can even get down there. I called a couple of mobile battery services but when I told them it's a Mercedes, two of them said "sorry we don't do European cars" which surprised me. I thought a battery is a battery. But then someone explained that Mercedes needs the battery registered and some mobile guys don't have the right scanner for that. So now I'm specifically looking for a mobile service that actually knows these cars and can come to the Marina, replace the battery on site, and do the coding properly without me having to figure out how to get the car towed out of a cramped basement. I've been searching for Dubai Mercedes Car Battery Service and it seems like most are shop-based rather than mobile. Has anyone in a similar building situation found a reliable mobile tech who works on Mercedes? Really hoping to avoid the towing nightmare.

Honestly I'd be a bit wary of anyone who says a battery swap on a CLS is just plug and play. If the guy turning up has no scanner, you'll end up with a new battery the car doesn't recognize and weird charging behavior down the line. Ask upfront if they can register it before you book anyone.

That's a rough way to start the morning, especially with a basement that tight. Hang in there, mobile guys who handle German cars do exist, you just have to call around a bit more. Most of them work out of vans so the tight access shouldn't be a problem.

Went through this with my E-Class in JLT last year. Single click, dead silent, parked in a cramped underground spot. Found a mobile tech through a Mercedes owners group on WhatsApp, he swapped it in about 40 minutes and coded it on the spot. Worth asking in a local group rather than googling.

The click is usually the starter solenoid trying with no juice behind it, so it's most likely the main battery. On that generation CLS the new one needs to be coded through the SAM or via Xentry/Star-compatible tool so the charge management knows its age and capacity. Skip that and you'll shorten the new battery's life.

Is it the main battery under the rear seat or are you sure it isn't just a weak jump-start situation? Also, did the car throw any battery warnings in the last few weeks before this? Would help narrow down whether you actually need a full replacement today.
