Re: What's the real cost of maintaining a Rolls Royce outside of warranty?
Family price or not, I'd still pay for an independent inspection before signing anything. Dealer service history is nice, but it doesn't tell you what's about to fail at 60,000 km. Has anyone here actually used the Abu Dhabi workshop he linked, or is it just a page that came up in a search?

Re: Did I destroy my CTS-V's shocks on those Mirdif construction roads?
Metal plates are brutal on the V-Series, but I'd want proof it's the shocks before spending anything. Did any warning come up on the dash, like a service ride control message? And has anyone here actually used the shop he linked, or is that just a page he stumbled on?

Re: Dealership quoted me 2800 for pads – is that normal or am I being robbed?
Warning lights aren't really the risk if the shop has a proper scan tool, because the sensor reset and electronic parking brake service mode are standard steps. Cheap shops that skip the EPB retract procedure are the ones that end up wrecking caliper pistons. Ask them straight if they have Xentry or ...

Re: Does anyone offer mobile battery service for Mercedes in the Marina area?
Went through this with my E-Class in JLT last year. Single click, dead silent, parked in a cramped underground spot. Found a mobile tech through a Mercedes owners group on WhatsApp, he swapped it in about 40 minutes and coded it on the spot. Worth asking in a local group rather than googling.

Re: Starting a small chemical blending operation in Sohar, any local tank suppliers?
I blended cleaning products in Sohar for a couple of years, and sourcing was the hardest part at the start. What worked for me was asking my raw material suppliers where they bought their own IBCs. I ended up with a mix of new and reconditioned ones, and the reconditioned ones were fine as long as I ...

Had something very similar on my old 3008, random locking and the parking sensor beeping for no reason. Turned out to be a corroded ground point near the rear and a weak battery, nothing to do with the modules. Cost me under 300 dirhams once someone actually checked voltage drops.

Not sure "specialist" always means better. Some of them just charge extra for the badge. Ask whether they have the GM diagnostic software and how many Escalades they see in a month before you commit.

Fibreglass warping in the heat is mostly down to cheap resin and thin layups, not the material itself. Good quality fibreglass with proper prep will outlast a badly cured carbon panel. Fitment comes down to the mould quality and whoever bolts it on.

Had almost the same thing on my rear door, someone's zipper I think. Workshop polished it in about an hour and I honestly can't find the spot now. Ask them to show you the paint depth reading before they start so you know what you're dealing with.

Re: Looking at a used Jeep Wrangler in Ras Al Khor – should I get it inspected first?
JK versus JL generation actually matters for what specifically to check, the JL has some different common issues around the electrical system compared to the JK's more mechanical concerns. Whoever inspects it should ideally know which generation specific problems to focus on rather than a generic ...
